Prayers for Parishioners who have fallen asleep

RESURRECTION PRAYER

Most merciful Father, we commend our departed into your hands. We are filled with the sure hope that our departed will rise again on the Last Day with all who have died in Christ. We thank you for all the good things you have given during our departed's earthly life.

O Father, in your great mercy, accept our prayer that the Gates of Paradise may be opened for your servant. In our turn, may we too be comforted by the words of the Father until we greet Christ in glory and are united with you and our departed. Amen.

LITANY

O God of spirits, and of all flesh, Who has trampled down Death, and overthrown the Devil, and given life unto Thy world: Do thou, the same Lord, give rest to the soul of Thy departed servant(s) ___________, in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where all sickness, sorrow and sighing have fled away. Pardon every transgression which he (she) hath (they have) committed, whether by word, or or deed, or thought.

For Thou art a good God, and lovest mankind; because there is no man who liveth and sinneth not; for Thou only art without sin, and Thy righteousness is to all eternity, and Thy word is true.

For Thou art the Resurrection, and the Life, and the Repose of Thy servant(s) ________, who is (are) fallen asleep, O Christ our God, and unto Thee do we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father, who is from everlasting, and Thine all-holy, and good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Subdeacon Stephan - Memory Eternal

Subdeacon Stephan Wanko, Jr  (1930 - November 7, 2007)

Subdeacon Stephan Wanko fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the nursing home he was staying at in Birmingham, Alabama at about 8:30AM ET.

Subdeacon Stephan was a long time active member and supporter of Christ the Saviour Cathedral and worked with His Eminence Archbishop Dmitri, Archbishop of Dallas and the South. In this 2002 photo in our temporary Church, Subdeacon Stephan faces Archbishop Dmitri during one of his many visits to our Church.

A viewing was held and a Panikhida conducted on Sunday, November 11, 2007. He was buried here at our cemetery on Monday, November 12, 2007.
